Description: As you may know, I have collected Stamps, Coins, Various Religious and Cultural items for over 50 years. Most of my coins and currency were bought from reputable dealers in Kentucky, California, and New York in the 1980s,and 1990 when I was most into collecting coins and Religious items. Most were bought, some were gifts. I have shared most of my collection with friends over the years. Now I am in my early 80s. I have decided to continue sharing my various collections with others through eBay.I purchased some interesting German coins and currency during a trip to Germany while teaching a special course for the Army. If you are reading the description then you defiantly know what these bills are. These bills are historical gems in excellent condition. Historically, soldiers serving overseas had been paid in local currency rather than in their "home" currency, most cash drawn by soldiers would go directly into the local economy, and in a damaged economy the effects of a hard currency such as the £ circulating freely alongside weaker local currencies could be severely problematic, risking severe inflation. There were other problems as well; once £ were circulating in a combat region, the opposing side could freely use its own stocks of £ as currency, or acquire stocks for use elsewhere to support their war effort. The high purchasing power of the £ and its easy transference back to Britain also posed a significant incentive to the black marketers. However, whilst the use of local currencies was effective where they were provided in cooperation with the local authorities, it was impractical in combat zones where the government might be either hostile, deliberately ambivalent, or simply non-existent. In these cases, the military authorities issued special "military currency", which was paid out to soldiers at a fixed rate of exchange and simply declared legal tender in occupied areas by local commanders.I bought these bills along with other foreign currency from a dealer in Germany. I don't remember just where or how much I paid. That was in the early 1990s. They have been in storage for many years. Per my limited notes, these bills are Uncirculated, but I can't say for sure. Please look at the pictures and grade it for yourself as the pictures represent the actual Bill you will receive. Grading is very subjective, I will leave that up to you. Everything I am selling is guaranteed as described. I give a full, 30 day return on everything I sell. Thank you for looking!
