Beacon Sticker (2.75” x 2”) - Anthony Nose Sticker (2.25” x 2.5”) (Single patches available from my husband’s Etsy shop: Garryowen and Hiking) IYKYK, but if you DON’T yet know (or haven’t had the pleasure of hiking all these locations), here’s more about the featured trails: - MT. BEACON is the Highest Peak in the Hudson Highlands. On the 2 mile hike to the Fire Tower, you pass the old casino ruins, incline railway and some great views of the hudson valley. It’s the Perfect place to watch the sunset or sunrise on a hike, and we’ve tried to portray just that. You choose whether the sun is rising on a new day or setting on one that's passed. - ANTHONY’S NOSE has 3 different trails to reach the quintessential Hudson Valley view, and connects to the famous Appalachian trail. Soldiers from CAMP SMITH will often hike up here and get in some training too. - Often called ‘the most popular day hike in America,’ BREAKNECK RIDGE is a challenging climb in Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, about 90 minutes north of New York City. The trails on Breakneck Ridge test hikers of all ages with steep rock ledges and then reward them with sweeping views of the Hudson River. - STORM KING MOUNTAIN looms above the Hudson River like a fortress, dominating the rugged river gorge on the west. Its glowering eastern end rises from the river to more than 1,300 feet and offers unsurpassed views of the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. - PUTNAM COUNTY is home to up to 200 mysterious STONE CHAMBERS—some of which can be found along main roads, but many more are tucked away in the woods and shrouded in mystery. The most common explanation is that they are root cellars constructed by the colonial farmers who settled in the region. Others strongly believe they had a religious or ceremonial purpose and are much older — constructed during pre-Columbian times by Celts, Vikings, Iberians, Carthaginians or Native Americans, or some combination. Make sure to get out there and enjoy the natural beauty of the area—whether you live here, or are just passing through. And remember.. leave no trace!
