Description: German / Italian Model 1833 Horse Artillery Troopers Sword is in good overall condition. Leather grip is intact, the wire wrapping in one spot is missing. Napoleonic Hussar-type hilt is very tight with the blade, and the saber is a beauty to hold. It's substantial, and at the same time very manageable. The blade is clean, no nicks on the cutting edge. Quillon is stamped M.G. An excellent and scarce Italian sword from the 1830s. There is a makers mark M.G and W & Co above the guard . The blade measures 32 1/2 " and the sword is 40 1/4” overall. The blade measures nearly 1 3/8” at the widest part near the ricasso. There is some scattered light rust and erosion but very good overall with most of its bright polish . The hilt shows some rust , most of its original , aging nicely. Missing one slide guide on one side. Please see image. The scabbard is also good - show some rust . An attractive and classic sword.
