The present book is volume 2 in a set of Cicero's works by various translators. It was published by Didot le Jeune, of the famous family of French printers and typefounders. There are two imprint pages, one giving the date as 1796 in Roman numerals and the other as 'l'an III' (that is, the third year of the French First Republic); a third date, 'l'an IV', is given under the name of the bookseller Deterville.
