Description: Vintage Old Postcard. 100% Original! The Interesting card. Soviet Issue, Collection Russian Postcard. RARE! "Arrived for the holidays" is a painting by People's Artist of the USSR Fyodor Reshetnikov, written in 1948. Plot: the artist depicted the moment of a young Suvorov cadet's arrival home for the New Year holidays. In the center of the plot is a boy in a military uniform and an elderly man in home clothes. The cadet has just entered the room - he is wearing an overcoat and a warm ushanka hat, he is holding a suitcase in his left hand, and with his right hand he is saluting his grandfather, reporting his arrival. The grandfather, apparently a former military man, stands at attention in front of his grandson and listens attentively to the report. A girl in a formal school uniform was laying out her textbooks on the table just a minute ago, but now she has put all her work aside and is watching what is happening with enthusiastic curiosity. The atmosphere is festive and optimistic. The family is already ready to celebrate the New Year - there is a Christmas tree in the corner of the room, decorated with toys and a garland. The boy's face lights up with a joyful smile - he is finally home. At the same time, the painting is deeply dramatic: the artist does not give an answer as to where the brave warrior's parents are. The fact that after the war, children whose mother and father died at the front were often accepted to Suvorov military schools gives this understatement a tragic ring. The painting "Arrived for the Holidays" brought the author national fame and the Stalin Prize. Postcards with its image became the most popular and were issued in a record-breaking total circulation of over 13 million copies for the Soviet Union. Today, the work is exhibited in the Tretyakov Gallery.
