1910 T218 Champions Jack Johnson Side Face, PSA Good 2, MC (Miscut), Hassan back

Description: This is a 1910 tobacco card from the T218 Champions series of the heavyweight boxing champion, Jack Johnson. This card is from his reign as the first African-American boxing champion, 1908-1915. It is referenced as the "Side Face" variety because it depicts Mr, Johnson in a side-facing pose. These cards were included in packs of cigarettes, and the reverse shows a tobacco stain, see photograph. There are three possible variations on the reverse of these cards, this one is from the Hassan Cork Tip brand of cigarettes, Factory No. 649, 1st District of New York. The card was authenticated by PSA and encapsulated. It was given the certification number of 64245152, with a qualifier of MC, which is PSA's designation of a miscut card, see photographs. From PSA: " Any and all cards that exhibit an atypical cut for the issue, which may result in portions of the subject card being cut off or more than one card being visible, will be designated “MC.” The rear of the card lists several important fights in his career, from 1899-1909.
