Description: 1/1 Albert Pujols 1st Bowman Chrome Superfractor Holy Grail RC 2001 - 2004 Offered is the one and only 1st Bowman Chrome Albert Pujols Superfractor. In 2001, Topps produced just one Bowman Chrome Albert Pujols edition, a redemption of up to 500 produced. ***No Superfractor or print plates were released. *** In 2002, Topps produced four Bowman Chrome Pujols cards: - Base - Refractor (#/500) - Xfractor (#/250) - Gold Refractor (#/50) ***No Superfractor or print plates were released. *** In 2003, Topps produced four Bowman Chrome Pujols cards: - Base - Refractor - Xfractor - Gold Refractor (#/170) ***No Superfractor or print plates were released. *** In 2004, Topps produced four Bowman Chrome Pujols cards: - Base - Refractor - Xfractor (#/172) - Gold Refractor (#/50) ***No Superfractor or print plates were released.*** HOWEVER… Topps also produced a parallel purportedly only for First Year players: the Blue Refractor #/290. Blue Refractors were redeemed via The Pit and sent in sealed one touch holders. Those that were unopened when graded are referred to as Uncirculated; those that were opened already when graded are not. Blue Refractors for First Year players were a nod to the design element that featured blue accent stripes around First Year players’ cards and red striping around Veteran players. HOWEVER, Bowman Chrome also included unannounced unnumbered Blue Refractor superfractors of several select veteran players, including Ken Griffey Jr, Chipper Jones, and Derek Jeter. Each features the Red Veteran Striping, but are Blue Refractors and say so on the back. One First Year player, Yadier Molina, was also included in this exclusive group (This Superfractor RC is also listed separately). Together with the four Veteran players, these five are the only known examples, with only one of each produced. Unlike the four Veterans, Yadi’s card is the only one to feature the First Year Blue Striping. But wait, is this just a No Serial Number error? … No. This is the first and only 2004 Blue Refractor of Pujols ever produced. (Not coincidentally, Bowman Chrome would include a Blue Refractor, a Superfractor, and print plates the following year in 2005. But THIS was the VERY first.) It is also worthy of note that among all the numbered editions (Gold Refractor #/50 x 330 card full set = 16,500, Xfractor #/172 x 330 full card set = 56,760 and Blue Refractor #/290 x 165 First Year card set = 47,850) totaling 121,110, there is NOT ONE example of a Missing Serial Number error across 1) PSA Pop Report 2) BGS Pop Report 3) SGC Pop Report 4) eBay Current or Completed Listings OR 5) Anywhere else online, even anecdotally. The ONLY examples are these five unique, unannounced but clearly deliberately made cards. With the 1st Unique Bowman Chrome Superfractor card being the undisputed king of rookie cards for most every player this century, this unique card has the distinction of being The Holy Grail of Albert Pujols cards: The ONLY 1st Bowman Chrome Blue Superfractor.
